On Sunday, November 11, 2018, Veteran’s Day, Jean Marie Wood, 60, was received by the Heavenly Father she loved so deeply. Her earthly Father, and favorite Veteran, Carl Huffman, was there to meet her.

Born in Portsmouth, VA on October 17, 1958 to Carl and Aldah Huffman, the world became even brighter on the day she was born. She loved all the way. She forgave all the way. She naturally saw the goodness in people and she brought out what was special in each person she loved and each person she befriended. She loved life’s simple things. She loved the warm breeze, country music, sweet tea, the beach, the mountains, dancing in the rain, quiet time with God, long goodbyes and her friends and family. She never judged and always encouraged. She loved being a Mom and Grandma more than anything. She made sure her girls always knew they had a friend in her and a friend in Jesus.

Left to cherish her memory and carry on her legacy of love, kindness, faith, forgiveness, courage, sunshine, wonder, hugs and kisses are daughters, Angela DiGiosaffatte and her husband, Matthew of Poquoson, VA and Rachel Wood and her fiancé, Todd Bussell of Poquoson, VA; 4 grandchildren, Tula, Phia, Michelle and Osmond of Poquoson; sister, Linda Parrish and her husband, Fred of Temecula, CA; her nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, the close family and friends she adopted throughout her life and her beloved pets Beau, Carly and Sebastian. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her longtime love, Wayne Swaim; brothers, Buddy Huffman, Bobby Huffman, Stoney Terrell; sister, Theresa Scribner and her Grandma Virginia Lane.

Family, friends and others whose lives Jean touched are invited to join the family on Friday, November 16, 2018 from 6:00 – 7:30pm at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, November 17, 2018 at 10:00am at Weymouth Funeral Home with Interment to follow at Peninsula Memorial Park.

You needn’t wear black. She thought people wore too much of it. Yellow was her color. She would want you to give a hug and smile to as many people as possible and to tell everyone you love them for her. In lieu of donations, she’d love for you to adopt a Christmas Tree Angel in her memory.
