Serving the Community Since 1960

Nancy Wood

Memorial Service: 12:30 p.m., Saturday, December 29, 2018

Location: Weymouth Funeral Home

Interment: Peninsula Memorial Park

Judith Pope Capps was born on August 16, 1941 and died Christmas Eve, December 24, 2018. She was born in Washington D.C. and moved to Norfolk at age 12. She graduated from Franklin High School during the time when Granby High School in Norfolk was closed. She attended Madison College. In 1963 she married Edgar L. Capps, a lieutenant in the US Marine Corps (with service in Vietnam) and was married for 55 years.

She is survived by her husband and two children, Kathleen Capps Hall who lives in West Virginia and her daughter Dr. Connie Capps who is a Norfolk resident. She is also survived by her younger siblings, Carolyn Pope Ives, Dr. William M. Pope and Rebecca Pope Bean; and her three grandchildren, Allison Hall Moore, a resident of Newport News, Chase, a sophomore at Virginia Tech and Madison, a freshman at Christopher Newport University.

There are no words to describe the hole that has been left by her passing from this world. Our hope is to be reunited again when we join her in Christ. She will be missed and her loss mourned, but we rejoice in the impact she had on our lives. We are thankful for the many days we spent together.

A Memorial Service will be held at 12:30PM at Weymouth Funeral Home in Newport News on Saturday, December 29, 2018, with Interment in Peninsula Memorial Park. A Reception will follow at Grace United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested for a favorite charity or for the firefighters or police in Newport News. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
