Betty Taylor Louder, 81, died Tuesday, July 28, 2020 at the Hampton Sentara Careplex. Born in Norfolk, Va. she had lived on the Peninsula for 45 years. She loved children and spent her career working with them as PTA president for two years at Palmer Elementary School and one year at Hines Middle School.  While at Palmer Elementary she created the Starving Artist Program. Betty worked for 18 years as a monitor and aid in the Palmer Cafeteria. She was selected as the PTA Chairman for Cultural Arts for the city of Newport News. For her efforts she was given honorary membership in the Virginia State PTA. She served as chairman of the Denbigh Community Education Advisory Board and in 1989 she received the Virginia State Community Education Leadership award. In 1991 she was selected to be the Honorary Mayor of Denbigh Day.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank W. Taylor and Helen W. Springborn. She is survived by her husband of 62 years, Elmar Newton Louder, her children, Dean Louder of Newport News, Darren Louder of Anchorage, Alaska and Derek Louder of Hampton, her brother Conrad Taylor of Virginia Beach and grandchildren Lauren Louder of Newport News and Noah Louder of Hampton.

Services will be private. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
