Carolyn M. Kirby, 67, of Newport News passed away on March 4, 2021. Carolyn was committed to caring for animals and worked as a veterinary assistant at Boulevard Veterinary Hospital for over 30 years.  She loved her animals deeply, most recently her two Shih Tzus, Chloe and Brie.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas Lee Kirby; mother and father, Hazel and George Lay and sister, Helen Gibson. She is survived by her only son and loving daughter (in law), Thomas and Angela and granddaughter, Kendall, who was her pride and joy; her sisters, Ann (Pete), Georgia, and Frances (Rick), and countless nieces, nephews, and a host of close friends.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 - 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, March 11, 2021 at Weymouth Funeral Home. A Graveside Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 12, 2021 at Hampton Memorial Gardens.

I can’t believe you are gone Carolyn. I worked with you at boulevard for many years and a more soft spoken and compassionate person were the wonderful traits you had. When I found out you were taking care of the elderly in their homes , I jumped on the chance for you to take care of my mom cause I knew she would never recieve better care from anyone. Unfortunately you were not available but I felt better talking to you. You are truly an angel and I’m sure you will be welcomed with open arms.
