Eleanor Hazel Bornholdt, 90, went home to be with her twin-sister and Jesus on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. She was born in Brooklyn, NY where she worked as a secretary with the Salvation Army. She was a Peninsula resident for over ten years.  She was a member of the Newport News YMCA where she loved to swim, and an active member of Reformation Lutheran Church. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur and Leona Bornholdt, and her twin-sister, Lois A. Struthwolf.  She is survived by her nieces, Lynn Floyd of Hampton, and Lee C. Westerhoff of Marthasville, MO; and great-nephews Brian and David, and great-nieces Jamie and Kelly.

A Memorial Service celebrating Eleanor’s life well lived will be held at 3:00 p.m., Sunday, July 11, 2021 at Weymouth Funeral Home by the Rev. John Ericson.  The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Reformation Lutheran Church, 13100 Warwick Blvd., Newport News, VA  23602.

I had lost Eleanors address when I moved, we use to be neighbors in Asheboro. I enjoyed swimming and talking with her a lot. That’s one lady that always had a answer to my questions. Missed her so much when she moved. Another Angel gained in Heaven to see her Lovely Sister.
