Patricia “Pat” Foretich Vaughn, 90, passed away peacefully surrounded by her children on Wednesday, September 13, 2023.  Pat, a lifelong resident of Newport News, grew up in Hilton Village. She attended Warwick High School where she met the love of her life and husband of 70 years, William “Bill” Edward Vaughn.  Together they lived a rich life, full of laughter and love, creating a large and amazing family. 

 
After graduation, Pat worked at Fort Eustis and Fort Monroe while raising their four children whom she adored. She was instrumental in launching and supporting the family contracting business. An active member of Newport News Women’s Club for over 27 years, she was a great promoter of the club, serving on various committees and participating in fundraising events.


Pat was preceded in death by her husband, Bill; parents, Joyce and Joseph Gregory Foretich; brother, Greg Foretich; sister, Joyce Foretich Lindsey; daughter, Victoria Leigh Vaughn and son-in-law, Whit Morrow. She is survived by her children, Debbie Morrow, Eddie Vaughn (Renee), Scott Vaughn (Denise), Gary Vaughn (Jennifer); grandchildren, Katie (Ben), James, Megan (Luke), Paige (Kristine), Leigh (David), Nolan (Autumn), Eliza, Natalie L., Kathryn, Natalie V., Will, Hallie, Robert, Ashlyn, Zachary and great-grandchildren, Graceyn, Thad, Miller, Baylor, Theo, Hayes and a baby girl arriving soon; her brother, Vincent Foretich and sister, Jane Foretich Caine (Pat).


The family will welcome visitors at Weymouth Funeral Home beginning at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, September 22, 2023, and funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 p.m.  Interment will follow at Peninsula Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Newport News Women’s Club in Pat’s honor. WCNN Hilton Christian Church, 100 James River Drive, Newport News, VA 23601. I am so sorry that I cannot attend Aunt Pat's memorial. I am holding thoughts of wonderful times spent with all of you, and hope the day is a celebration of a life well lived.
