Earl Hamilton Arrowood, 83, went to be with his Lord on January 19, 2024.  Growing up with three siblings, Mr. Arrowood was raised near Morganton in Burke County, North Carolina.  He was a Peninsula resident for 62 years.

He was a member of First Baptist Church-Newport News where he served as a deacon, Adult Sunday School Director, a member of the A Team, and the Swinging Singers.

Mr. Arrowood attended Warren Wilson College in Swannanoa, North Carolina.  After completing the apprenticeship program of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, he served 33 years of federal employment with NASA in various capacities.   He was a member and served in leadership with the Poquoson Ruritan Club and the Newport News Host Lion’s Club.  An avid runner for 39 years, he participated in various races, frequently placing in his age category.  Last year, he was presented a Quilt of Valor for his service in the United States Coast Guard.

He is survived by Judith O. Arrowood, the “love of my life” and wife of 55 years; son, Scott H. Arrowood; daughter, Hope E. A. Moore; son-in-law, James G. Moore; four grandchildren, Emily, Allen, Catherine, and Elizabeth; and his brother, Randy S. Arrowood.    

The family will receive friends at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, January 25, 2024 at Weymouth Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park in Newport News.

Judy so sorry to hear about Earl's passing.We were nextdoor neighbors for many years.Earl and I am
had many good backyard conversations sharing life's little challenges.He was a good friend who always was very kind and well respected.

We are saddened to hear of Earl's death, Jeanne's cousin who she called "Bubba." He was a wonderful man and we will miss him greatly.

I often ran into Earl in the front lobby of First Baptist Church, he always smiled and greeted me and he always called me by name.
It was always nice to see Earl and Judy together and enjoying each other's company. Judy, you are in my thoughts and prayers during this difficult time, along with your family.
