Graveside Service: 11:00 a.m., Monday September 21, 2020

Location: Cedar Grove Cemetery, Williamsburg

Myrl Lewis Hairfield, 78, of Williamsburg, passed away at his home on Monday, September 14th. He battled cancer on and off for 40 years, and was thus grateful for every day he spent with his family.

Myrl was a consumate gentleman. He could sum up a situation in a single sentence and offer words of wisdom the beneficiary wouldn’t soon forget. He was wise beyond understanding and had a deep love of family. Although most of his friends would count themselves as family to Myrl, and he would be glad for it and agree. To his family he was a father, grandfather, mentor, idol, and most importantly a friend. He accomplished a lot in his 78 years, but his family and friends would count as his greatest accomplishments.

Myrl was an avid hunter and fisherman. He always looked forward to the annual trip to South Dakota for pheasant hunting, with some of his dearest friends. They shared the experience of drinking Scotch and buying their ammunition where pizza, bibles and prime rib are sold. He couldn’t have been happier. And if you were ever wondering which bird he shot, it was the one with the bullet in the left eye. Being outdoors and bonding with friends is what filled his cup.

Myrl is survived by his wife Alice, daughters Carol Bowler (Chris) and Sandra Collier (Darrell). He adored his 4 grandchildren, Sarah (19), Emma (15), Rosalyn (15), Mason (12), and his step-grandchildren alike.

A graveside service will be held at Cedar Grove Cemetery in Williamsburg, on Monday September 21, 2020, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in his name to the Cleveland Clinic.

Alice and family’,
I am so sorry to hear of Myrl’s passing. We had some great times Quail hunting over the last 20 years. He was a great friend and I always looked forward to getting out in the field with He and Anne, hunting, joking, laughing, drinking coffee and listening to him tell one joke after another.
Lots of fond memories. May you rest in piece my friend.
May God give you and your family comfort that he is in a better place now.
