MYRTLE LEE HOLLOWAY

SERVICES HAVE BEEN CANCELLED

Myrtle Lee Holloway, 83, passed away on March 6, 2020 with her daughters by her side.  She was born on November 29, 1936 in Newport News to Sherman L. DeMoss and Myrtle K. DeMoss who preceded her in death.

She graduated from Newport News High School in 1954.  After high school she married Bill Floyd and from this union she was blessed with her three daughters.  She was a member of Menchville Baptist Church and the Eastern Star.

Myrtle Lee retired from Newport News Shipbuilding, Dept. 053 in 1996.  After retirement she became a CNA and enjoyed caring for the elderly.  Other things she enjoyed were crocheting, needlework, antiquing and gardening.  She loved feeding and watching the birds in the birdhouses she had throughout her garden.  Her yard always looked like it was professionally landscaped and was enjoyed by family, neighbors and friends.  Her most cherished role was being Momma, Grandmommy and Mammy to her daughters, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She loved spending time with them, whether it was going to their house for a meal, taking Sunday rides for milkshakes or just having them visit and tell her everything that was going on in their lives.  There will be an emptiness in our hearts until we meet again.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Patricia Cassidy, d Nancy Todd and son-in-law, D. Dennis Headrick.  She is survived by her sister, Gloria Kenerley; her daughters, Dixie Headrick, Donna Fitzgerald (Bobby) and Margaret Eubanks (Douglas).  Surviving her are grandchildren, Daniel Headrick (Jessica), Matthew Headrick (Sara), Dylan Fitzgerald, Stephanie Armstead (B.J.), Brian Eubanks (Hannah), Adam Eubanks, Aaron Eubanks and Douglas Ray Eubanks.  She was also blessed as a great-grandmother.

The family would like to give special thanks for the wonderful compassionate care provided by the Sentara Hospice team, Jacqueline, Shari, Braunda and Summer along with her “extended” family at Dominion Village of Poquoson, Cindy, Vicki, Neshia, Leah, Alyssa, Savannah and Barbara.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in her honor to The American Cancer Society, 477 Viking Drive #130, Virginia Beach, VA 23452 or a charity of your choice.
