
Interment and Service at a later date
Roosevelt Strickland, 86, passed away on Wednesday, January 6, 2021. Born in Chadbourn, NC, he was a Peninsula resident since 1972. Roosevelt was drafted to service in the U.S. Army in April 1953. His career took him to Europe, Vietnam and Korea. While in Europe, he met his wife, Elisabeth and married in 1958. The last few years of his military career he spent with the Transportation Corp, at Fort Eustis, VA and retired in 1976 after 23 years of service. Roosevelt joined the Civilian Forces, at Fort Eustis and Fort Monroe, retiring in 1996 with 20 years of Civil Service. He was a proud member of the Transportation Corp and a distinguished member of The Transportation Regiment.
Roosevelt was preceded in death by his son, Carrol Dean. He is survived by his wife, Elisabeth Strickland. He leaves behind brothers, sisters and a host of relatives and friends.
In lieu of flowers the family request donations be made to the Fort Eustis Transportation Museum Foundation, P.O. Box āDā Fort Eustis, VA 23606. Interment will be at a later date in NC. Arrangements by Weymouth Funeral Home.
