William "Bill" James Floyd

William “Bill” James Floyd, 86, a longtime resident of York County, VA passed away Tuesday, May 18, 2021.  He was born to Frank and Fannie Floyd who preceded him in death.  As a graduate of Newport News High School, Bill was the starting right tackle and co-captain for the Typhoons.  After 30+ years of dedicated service as a Machinist Supervisor and company prankster at Amoco Oil Refinery, he retired to enjoy golfing, hunting and spending time with his family.   Bill was saved at a young age and was actively involved in church his whole life and taught Sunday School for many years, most recently as a member of Bethel Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 49 years, June Davis Floyd; brother, Frank D. Floyd; sister, Jackie Michaud; son-in-law, Denny Headrick and mother of his children, Myrtle Holloway.

Bill is survived by his daughters Dixie Headrick, Donna Fitzgerald (Bobby) and Margaret Eubanks (Doug); grandchildren, Daniel Headrick (Jessica), Adam Eubanks, Bryan Eubanks (Hannah), Matt Headrick (Sara), Stephanie Armstead (BJ), Aaron Eubanks, Dylan Fitzgerald, Ray Eubanks and several great-grandchildren.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Sherri Ross and all the staff at Sentara Hospice for the compassionate care they provided to our Daddy.

The family will receive friends at 1:00 p.m., on Monday, May 24, 2021 at Bethel Baptist Church, 1004 Yorktown Road, Yorktown, VA with a Memorial Service to follow at 1:30 pm.
